Adjectivenovel (comparative more novel, superlative most novel) Positive novel Comparative more novel Superlative most novel From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A novel is a long narrative in literary prose. The genre has historical roots both in the fields of the medieval and early modern romance and in the tradition of the novella. The latter supplied the present generic term in the late 18th century. The further definition of the genre is historically difficult. Most of the criteria (such as artistic merit, fictionality, a design to create an epic totality of life, a focus on history and the individual) are arbitrary and designed to raise further debates over qualities that will supposedly separate great works of literature both from a wider and lower "trivial" production and from the field of true histories. To become part of the literary production novels have to address the discussion of art. The construction of the narrative, the plot, the way reality is created in the work of fiction, the fascination of the character study, and the use of language are usually discussed to show a novel's artistic merits. Most of these requirements were introduced in the 16th and 17th centuries, in order to give fiction a justification outside the field of factual history. The individualism of the presentation makes the personal memoir and the autobiography the two closest relatives among the genres of modern histories. From Wikipedia under the

From what I've heard, the scariest novels are the ones that are psychologically disturbing. How exactly can I make my novel psychologically disturbing? Isolation (like in misery), or a dead end situation with weather predicaments (like the shining) or imprisonment (like Saw). 2) Also try something that has to do with extreme knowledge or cunning the bad person has about your hero (it is scary to feel you are being watched and somebody know your habits and can foresee your reactions like sleeping enemy or what lies beneath where a husband is all potent due to intimacy). 3) life threatening or worse disability/impairment is a fear/insecurity most people have (the hostel, saw) 4) a deep psychological motive counts to reality (look at the Hand that rocks the cradle) and also note the fear of the wife of being misunderstood and losing the… [cont.] Answered by ksotikoula - Sat Dec 20 04:05:51 2008 How different is the Notebook [NOVEL] from the MOVIE? Q. For my world history class, I have to pick a historical novel or film to review, read and/or watch. I then have to write a historical review, expressing usages of bias, point of view, facts and falsehoods of the author. I would like to have some ideas of an engaging movie that I can be sucessful in the above with. Asked by Peter - Sun Jan 18 15:21:11 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory is one of my favorites, and this would be easy to write up facts, falsehoods, and bias for. It is about King Henry VIII and his many love interests, focusing on Anne and Mary Boleyn. You may not like it, as it is more of a girl book :) There is also the Arthur Miller play The Crucible, which is about the Salem Witch Trials. It has a great movie adaptation. Others: (as I have not read/seen some of these, I am not sure how well they fit into the historical fiction category) movie---book The Aviator---The Aviator; E.K. Gann Black Hawk Down---Black Hawk Down; a story of modern war by Mark Bowden Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Redford ;R. Hansen Gods and Generals---J.
