novelDefinition from Wiktionary, the free dictionary Jump to: navigation, searchAdjectivenovel (comparative more novel, superlative most novel) From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A novel is a long narrative in literary prose. The genre has historical roots both in the fields of the medieval and early modern romance and in the tradition of the novella. The latter supplied the present generic term in the late 18th century. The further definition of the genre is historically difficult. Most of the criteria (such as artistic merit, fictionality, a design to create an epic totality of life, a focus on history and the individual) are arbitrary and designed to raise further debates over qualities that will supposedly separate great works of literature both from a wider and lower "trivial" production and from the field of true histories. To become part of the literary production novels have to address the discussion of art. The construction of the narrative, the plot, the way reality is created in the work of fiction, the fascination of the character study, and the use of language are usually discussed to show a novel's artistic merits. Most of these requirements were introduced in the 16th and 17th centuries, in order to give fiction a justification outside the field of factual history. The individualism of the presentation makes the personal memoir and the autobiography the two closest relatives among the genres of modern histories. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What are some teenage romance novel ideas? Q. I'm planning on writing a teenage romance novel, and i need some good ideas/story plots. Anyone have any ideas? I'm willing to devote as much time to writing this novel as possible. I have read Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series, and I enjoyed them very much. Anyone have any similar ideas, but very different at the same time? Give me your ideas and suggestions! Asked by elenigogos@rocketmail.com - Tue Feb 3 18:45:25 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. You should do two people that can't be together because of some reason but they love each other and can't live without each other. First maybe she gets captured and one of the people who captured her falls in love with her. She thinks she hates him but slowly she starts to love him too. I would read that book in a heartbeat. I really hope you publish that book if you write it. Answered by The Riddler - Tue Feb 3 19:01:45 2009 What is the best novel writing software for beginners? Q. I've been searching online for the best novel writing software that I can get for the least amount of money. I've looked at New Novelist 2.0 and others but, which do I choose being that I'm on a very tight budget? Asked by warriorpoet72002 - Fri Mar 14 21:44:52 2008 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments A. I have been writing for many years. The only software I have ever used is Microsoft Word. Sorry but no software can make you a better writer. If you know how to use the advanced settings on Word, it does many things that will surprise you. Skip the software. It is the equivalent of buying a Humvee when all you need is a car. Instead invest in a couple good research books. A style book. A copy of The First Five Pages. A copy of On Writing. Writers Market. They will help you far more than any software ever will. Pax-C Answered by Persiphone_Hellecat - Fri Mar 14 21:50:15 2008 What are some ideas for writing a novel that can NOT be made into a movie, due to its structure?
Q. I am starting on my second novel, and as my last novel was structured in a way that prevents it from being made into a movie, I would like to do the same thing with my second. However, I would like to do it in a different manner. Can you throw some ideas at me? Asked by Paranormal Kitty - Fri Nov 13 17:37:36 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Why are you bothered about your book being made into a movie? Very few books are made into movies to begin with (though many more books are optioned, meaning that whoever pays for the option has the right to make a movie based on the book). Are you worried the studio will ruin it? You retain the copyright when the book is published, so it's your decision as to whether to sell the movie rights. (Partly your decision, anyway - if the book is very successful, and/or the studio is offering a lot of money, your publisher and/or agent will put a lot of pressure on you to sell.) Look at books that have been adapted into films recently, and work out what they have in common. Then make your book not like that. Film is mainly a visual medium.… [cont.] Answered by Steven J Pemberton - Fri Nov 13 18:20:59 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "novel" From Wikiquote under the GNU Free Documentation License.
